The contemporary yet relaxed character of the Helix knot complements Brightbound’s simple, yet expressive forms.
Our exploration of this knot language began in 2016 during the development of a custom chandelier for a residential project in Napa Valley, created in collaboration with San Francisco fiber artist Windy Chien®. That early friendship, and exchange of creativity, revealed the expressive potential of rope as both structure and ornament, opening a new material dialogue within our studio.
Since then, the Helix knot has evolved into an enduring element of Brightbound’s design language. It appears across several fixtures, including the Sila Helix, Olive Helix, and Tini Helix in the Haven Collection, as well as the ThirtyThree Chandelier in the Heritage Collection.
Through these pieces, rope becomes a sculptural medium- introducing rhythm, texture, and a quiet sense of movement. The gesture subtly reflects the soft contours and luminous atmosphere of the California coast, grounding each fixture in a spirit of craft and place.
